Dave Brinks recently received the highest honor given by the Michigan Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association, the Bruce Harlan Award. To be considered for this award, a person must have coached interscholastic diving for at least five years in Michigan with above average success, and have demonstrated leadership at the local, state, and national levels.
Brinks is a GHS alumni and was on Western Michigan University’s dive team. He has coached the Bulldogs for 35 years. “Dave is not only the finest diving coach in the state, he is also a great role model for our athletes,” says GHS swimming coach Jeff Burgess. “The young men who have had Dave as their coach have truly become better young men because of his tireless efforts and great example.”
